Introducing Peer Group
My weekly newsletter for compensation leaders navigating the new era of pay transparency.
When I talk with compensation leaders, I often hear the following:
Everything is changing fast, and
I need more (and better) data to keep up.
I’ve started this newsletter to share my market observations (that’s #1), and to create polls for you to participate in (that’s #2). You can comment, too.
With that in mind, I keep hearing buzz on these topics — what’s most relevant to you?

We’ll dig into more next week — for this week, some background on this newsletter.
Why a newsletter?
At Juniper Networks, I relied on a small group of compensation leaders to learn how other companies were navigating change.
We met twice a year and occasionally surveyed each other over email. It was a casual, lightweight way to hear the latest.
I want to replicate the benefits of that group, but for everyone, and on a bigger scale. On Substack, newsletters are interactive - you can participate in polls (data!) and we can chat in the comments.
My goal is to build a trusted community to share data and insights so we can navigate all this change.
Why listen to me?
The first decade of my career was in HR, and mostly in comp. At Mercer, I went broad, and at Juniper and Workday I went deep. Going in-house meant learning how things really work.
Now I run Compa, where we are inventing offer management software. I spend a lot of time thinking about the future of compensation, and I’m constantly meeting with comp leaders. I get to hear their challenges and opportunities, and I love when we get to exchange ideas.
Short and sweet
Each post will cover one topic, and I will frequently poll readers.
I’ll mostly publish weekly, but I won’t be a prisoner to the format.
This isn’t a round-up of the news and this isn’t a Compa advertisement; it’s just me. (If you’re looking for Compa resources, I added some links to the newsletter homepage.)
Invite your colleagues
You can forward this email to your colleagues and peers - when they subscribe they’ll get the newsletter in their inbox, too.
